Camp Gridiron 25

Camp Gridiron is the oldest event (Training Camp) in the history of American Football in Brazil.

Every year, dozens of players from all national teams, as well as from Spain, gather in Mafra for 4 days of training, supervised by high school and college coaches from the United States, as well as former NFL players.

Camp Gridiron had its first edition in 2009, in Paredes. At the time it was called Dusty Renfro’s Football Camp. Dusty Renfro was a college player for the Texas Longhorns, Buffalo Bills (NFL) and Rhein Fire (NFL Europe).

In 2011, Pedro Esteves (current President of the FPFA) became the organizer of the event, and transferred this event to Mafra, where it has been held to date, with the support of the Mafra City Council. In 2017, this Training Camp was renamed Camp Gridiron.

Currently the group of coaches are led by Drew Sanders, Head Coach & Athletics Coordinator at Vandegrift High School (Texas, USA).

Over more than a decade, this event has also been recognized for the support it has given to all national teams, through the donation of hundreds of shoulderspads, helmets, balls, jerseys and American Football pants.

In 2025, between the 3rd and 6th of July, the 15th edition will take place. The price per person will be €60 (sixty euros) and will include accommodation, food, training and access to the swimming pool at the place of stay.
